As a club project my club WARC (Warrington Amateur Radio Club) chose to build an Arduino based Datong D70 ‘clone’ designed by G0PJO Martin Waller. It’s a great project and adds a feature to the original D70, bluetooth connection! So you can actually check whether you are copying the code correctly on your device of choice.

I did this over 6 months ago but still haven’t boxed it up, however one of the club members managed to source some identical boxes to the original so I really ought to.
I thoroughly recommend this project, I did it with very little electronic knowledge so anyone should be able to attempt it. For more information see https://github.com/MartinDavidWaller/D70Box and http://warc.org.uk/?page_id=123370. Martin sells the PCBs and is very receptive to emails, you can find his email address on the github link.
